Bruxism(grinding of teeth and wear)
Bruxism refers to excessive grinding of teeth and/or excessive clenching of the jaw. Bruxism may cause minimal symptoms, and therefore people may not be aware of the condition. Several symptoms are commonly associated, including hypersensitive teeth, aching jaw muscles and headaches. Bruxism may also cause tooth wear, or even cause teeth to break and dental restorations (e.g. crowns and fillings) to be repeatedly lost or damaged.
Night guards
(Night guard) a removable dental prosthesis that covers the grinding surfaces of all the teeth when worn, and prevents them from grinding against each other; usually advised for individuals suffering from bruxism and worn at night.
Mouth guards
Mouth guards just might be a parent's best friend---a parent who has kids who are active in contact sports. Made of rubberized materials like plastic, silicone or a combination of silicone and gel, mouth guards usually are fitted to the top teeth inside the mouth and offer protection of varying degrees against contact injuries to the teeth and mouth.
